Levi went on to set up his own label Conqueror Records. He has recorded with producer Fatist Burrell at Exterminator in Jamaica and worked alongside legends such as Sly and Robbie. With his band MATIC 16, Levi worked with other Jamaican great’s, Half Pint, Sugar Minott, Junior Reid, Mickey General, Michael Palmer, Earl 16, just to mention a few and he also produced tunes under his conqueror label. With the Tenuye Brothers, Patrick and Buttons joining with UB40 as principle brass section, in the 80’s, Levi concentrated on writing and producing. After a ten-year stretch, he then reunited with the brothers and Sound Box was formed, a production team that has given us the finest Roots album from the UK for a lengthy time. 'Free your mind' took two years to produce and was released in the spring of1998 winning positive acclaim from music lovers and journalists world-wide. Utilising some of Jamaica’s and the UK’s major talents namely, Mafia and Fluxy, former Aswad sideman Stan Lee Andrews, Bammy Rose and the legendary Jah Shaka, the album has made its mark as was intended |
